Hungerford Primary School follows the Islington Scheme of Work for religious education, which has been produced by Islington SACRE.

This scheme of work enables children to learn about religions that are different from their own. Children are provided with opportunities to explore religious beliefs and practices of the six religions represented in Great Britain:

Hinduism

Judaism

Buddhism

Christianity

Islam

Sikhism

Children are also given the opportunity to learn about non religious traditions and secular world views.

At Hungerford religious education is important as it encourages personal reflection and spiritual development, which help children lead happy and fulfilling lives. We aim to encourage sensitivity, empathy and respect for their neighbour, their local community and the wider world. We believe differences should not only be understood, but also celebrated and prejudices challenged.
